Self-Pay Therapy

Therapy for Professionals in New Jersey

Working professionals in New Jersey may choose self-pay because they would rather not involve an insurance company in their therapy.

Discretion and self-pay

Many people choose self-pay because they would rather not involve an insurance company in their therapy. When insurance is used, a practice shares information with the health plan to obtain payment, such as a diagnosis, dates of service, and a treatment summary. We do not send your insurance company information about care you pay for yourself. We share your information outside the practice only with your written permission, with the secure services that help us run the practice, or in the limited situations our Notice of Privacy Practices describes, such as a medical emergency or a legal requirement.

The same protections and care

Your record is protected the same way however you pay. Self-pay changes what is shared for payment, not the confidentiality of your care. The clinical care is the same whether you use insurance or self-pay.

The fee and expected charges

Self-pay is for clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance for these services. Our standard self-pay rate is $200 per standard 53-minute individual session. Other individual-session lengths are billed in proportion to that rate; couples, family, and group sessions are priced separately. Self-pay clients receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.

For more on the fee, see What self-pay therapy covers.

Virtual sessions across New Jersey

Sessions are conducted by secure, HIPAA-compliant video across New Jersey. For clinical information, see Career and professional stress therapy.
