Clinical Approach

The alliance comes first

Dan finds that the therapeutic alliance is the single most important aspect of therapy, and he works from a client-centered stance because of it. Change happens when client and clinician move as a unit, and that only becomes possible inside a therapeutic environment safe enough to be honest in. His approach is highly goal-oriented and focused on future positive outcomes, while recognizing how much of that work runs through the past a client needs to make sense of.

Specializations

Dan is open to a wide range of populations and presenting concerns, with focused experience supporting clients on the autism spectrum, young adults, and men. His clinical work has centered on anxiety, depression, social challenges, executive functioning difficulties, and life transitions.

Clinical Training

Two years inside a university autism center

Dan’s clinical foundation was built at the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services, where he spent nearly two years supporting college students with an autism diagnosis — coordinating the College Support Program throughout, and carrying a therapy caseload as a graduate student clinician alongside it. He met students one-to-one each week, co-facilitated a CBT and executive functioning skills group, and coordinated care across mental health services, faculty, and disability services.

Clinical Background

Skills that hold up outside the session

Dan has experience providing therapeutic and case management based services in schools and clinics. His work is skill-forward — cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, coping skills training, and goal-setting — delivered inside individualized, strengths-based plans and paired with the coordination that makes those plans stick.
